While it is a rare occurrence, electrical devices can fail, leaving you with an outage and disruption of service while power flow is interrupted. Redundant power systems are designed to minimize risk by connecting to an independent power system.
For example, a singular power path could include multiple pieces of equipment including a main switchboard, backup generator, UPS and a PDU. A second independent power path with all those elements to the same server rack ensures if there’s a break in the first path, then the second path takes over, preventing any service outage.
Eaton PDI offers three types of Redundant Power solutions optimized around different mission critical architectures.
Digital Static Transfer Switch (STS) with Dual Power Distribution Units (PDU) system where the PDUs feed Source 1 and Source 2 of the STS. The introduction of the STS allows automatic switching of power sources in as fast as 4 milliseconds.
